PS2 browser to be available in late March.
Ergosoft, a Koei subsidiary, recently declared that its PS2 browser will spill onto Japanese shores on March 29. Ergosoft has dubbed the PlanetWeb-developed product the EGBrowser. The PlanetWeb name may be familiar to gamers, as the company was a significant contributor to the Dreamcast's groundbreaking browser. Gamers will now be able to surf the Internet on the PlayStation 2 via a USB modem. Additionally, the browser is to support POP and SMTP mail. As a final bonus, the browser enables the gamer to play MP3s. While the upcoming version of the browser does not allow gamers to save actual MP3 files to the PS2 memory card, another version to be released in the future will boast this option.
The EGBrowser will carry an MSRP of 3,800 yen (US$32) when the product hits Japan on the 29th of March.
