Sony titles fare well in Famitsu's end-of-year awards.

By the time you read this, Famitsu's latest weekly edition will have graced news stands everywhere. In the issue, the Famitsu editors honor the year's top games by compiling a full list of titles that garnered a Silver, Gold or Platinum award in the year 2000. A mere 15 titles earned the Platinum award, exhibiting the stingy nature of Famitsu's critics. In order to obtain a platinum award, the title in question must have achieved a total score of at least 35 from the four reviewers.

In the year-end issue of Weekly Famitsu, titles that graced Sony platforms fared exceedingly well. This is largely due to Squaresoft's phenomenal year, as Vagrant Story's eloquent writing propelled it to a perfect score of 40. This earned the RPG the prestigious distinction of having the year's highest score from Famitsu. The controversial Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) was bestowed a score of 38, as were Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden (PSOne) and Final Fantasy Fantasy IX (PSOne).
