Sony confident of rapid PS2 production.
Sony has announced that they have improved production of that unknown lacking chip that caused the whole PS2 shortage fiasco. Now with this coming to play, Sony is now extremely confident that they will be able to break ten million PS2 units sold by March 2001, which is a mere month and a half away. By doubling production of this chip Sony will now be able to ship a total of 3 million PS2s in North America by March 31, 2001. This means that by March 31, Japan will hold roughly 4 million PS2s, European countries including Australia hold 3 million, and the same goes for North America. It is very possible that Sony can ship out 11 million units since Japanese production of PS2s has remained extremely good. It looks like the shortage of the PS2 will be long forgotten by the end of the year, or possibly even Summer 2001.
