Oni approved by Sony.
Take-Two Interactive has recently released word that Oni, the company's highly-anticipated third-person shooter, was recently approved for release by Sony Computer Entertainment. The Oni experience involves melding hand-to-hand combat and firearm skills into a unique adventure. Oni's developers labored to ensure that the title would present a smooth feel without falling into the trap of becoming monotonous or oversimplified.
Konoko, Oni's lead character, will have a veritable plethora of weapons with which to strike fear into the hearts of enemies. Everything from pistols to rocket launchers will be at the gamers disposal, but that doesn't mean that the game is a mindless gore-fest. The game, in fact, will feature a heavy emphasis on stealth tactics, as hand-to-hand combat is indispensable in removing nemeses silently.
"We are delighted that Oni has been approved by Sony Computer Entertainment America," commented Paul Eibeler, president of Take-Two Interactive. "As PlayStation 2 continues to redefine home entertainment, Oni is poised to become a benchmark in next-generation gaming. The hectic mix of hand-to-hand combat and gunplay was not possible on previous console platforms. When you combine this with the simultaneous release of the versions for the PC and Macintosh platforms from the Gathering of Developers, I feel that Take-Two is launching a huge new gaming franchise."
