PS2 News: More SOCOM for PS2, PSP

More SOCOM for PS2, PSP

It looks like EB Games has accidentally leaked information pertaining to two upcoming SOCOM sequels.

Pre-order listings were posted today, and then quickly pulled, detailing a PS2 game titled SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault and a PSP game titled SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2.

Sony isn't officially confirming that either game is in the works, but information from the listings seems too specific to be the result of a simple mistake or hack.

According to the listings, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault for the PS2 will feature an even larger set of vehicles and weapons than SOCOM 3, as well as a four-player online co-op story mode.

Meanwhile, apparently coming to the PSP is SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2. This new portable wonder will supposedly feature a greater selection of single-player missions, a new system of rewards based on limiting civilian casualties, and more maps and game types for the online mode. 10 new multiplayer maps will join those being brought across from the first game.

A note on both listings mentioned that both games will feature expanded connectivity features, such that missions and stories can be shared and intertwined between the PSP game and the PS2 game.

Accidental "leaks" like this have happened before, and we're sure this is yet another case of a retailer jumping the gun before Sony's PR people have a chance to send forth an official release.
