Giants slated for PS2.
Interplay recently confirmed the development of a PlayStation 2 incarnation of Giants: Citizen Kabuto. The title will grace PS2 thanks to the developmental efforts of Digital Mayhem. The company promises to harvest PlayStation 2's technical power to deliver an intensified experience. Lush detail will be featured in the game's character models, while the title's environments will boast an organic feel thanks to new effects at the developer's disposal thanks to the PS2's uncanny polygon-pushing power. Digital Mayhem has also tweaked the control of the title to avoid issues stemming from its PC translation.
The game has players taking the reigns of one of three civilizations with aspirations of dominating an expansive three dimensional world, which has been awkwardly termed, "The Island" (the originality is petrifying). The island on which the battles for supremacy are fought will boast varied terrain, as jungles, volcanic landscapes and icebergs are all featured environs in the title. The gamer will have at his or her disposal a myriad of tactics with which to thwart your opponents, including magical spells, group tactics, and other specific attacks.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is set to hit the PlayStation 2 in 2001's second quarter. Planet Moon Studios was responsible for the PC version of the title.
