Sega to publish games for PS2?
The Japanese Jiji news agency recently reported that Sega, in a shocking move, is preparing to unveil a reorganization ploy by January 2001 that, among other things, will make it likely for Sega to publish PlayStation 2 games. Sega has been plagued by similar rumors as of late, as speculation regarding a possible Nintendo-buyout of the longstanding company created a firestorm of uncertainty in the industry. However, just as Sega denied those rumors, they have continued to discredit the current reports as well.
As a result of the speculation, Sega Corp saw its stock surge 10.65 percent, closing at 1,184 yen following the Jiji report. While certainly not concrete, the constant stream of speculation has tainted Sega's otherwise successful year with suspicion and distrust from many a gamer. Count on further information on this topic as it becomes available.
