PSX Extreme has recently learned that Valkyrie Studios has plans to bring its third person action title, Seraphim, to Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox. The game's publisher has not yet been announced, but the company is currently in negotiations with several companies. On which next-generation platforms the title is released depends on the results of those discussions.
"I can tell you right off the bag that we'd love to be developing the title for either or both platforms and that given the engine we're using, that should be fairly easy to accomplish," commented Cathi Court, president and executive producer of Valkyrie Studios. While information on the action game is sparse, the company has announced the fact that Seraphim will be networkable, and, beyond that, compatible with the networks of numerous systems.
In Seraphim, gamers are placed in an expansive 3D world. The gamer can move about the environs via land or air travel. Players control a fallen angel, or Seraphim, in one of three quirky clans boasted by the game. The gameplay is mission-based, and built around distinct and varied objectives. In the game, there are human settlements that must be raided and leaders that must be assassinated (although they probably wouldn't say so themselves). Gamers must, at various points in the game, escort cargo, manage spells and raze enemy strongholds. In RPG fashion, Seraphim utilizes a point system in which characters can be built by means of purchasing weapons and magic spells while enhancing their combat prowess. Multiplayer action is to be very prevalent in the title, and is to feature modes such as flag and king of the hill. Several other modes unique to Seraphim are to be included as well.
Valkyrie Studios has not announced an official date for the title's release.
