Finally, some new info is released.
It has been confirmed by Sony that they are having a conference meeting on September 13th in Japan. The top executives of the Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will answer the long awaited questions that many gamers have today. Some of the most important issues that the company will tackle at the conference is the DVD movie support and the modem play.
It is already very obvious that Playstation 2 will support DVDs, that does not necessarily mean that it will allow us to watch DVD movies on our screens. The DVD drive must be accompanied by a special movie decoder that could convert digital information on the disk into video and sound signal. This additional hardware could increase the price of the system and it could be useless if you already own a DVD player. A good option for this matter is to have the decoder sold separately that could easily be plugged into a ready made port in the system. But it is for me to say and the rest to decide.
With Dreamcast showing off its modem play capabilities, you can bet to see the same feature in PSX 2. Sony has enough time to make the modem play somehow better since they already know Sega's competing system.
