Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Tops One Million

Certain franchises will always have a loyal fanbase, and will always be recognizable to many, many gamers.

Mortal Kombat is one of those franchises, and that is evidenced by Midway's latest announcement: they've officially shipped over one million copies of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, available for the PS2 and Xbox. This is excellent news for the company, especially considering how quickly the game reached that elite sales plateau; it released only a couple months ago.

"For the last Mortal Kombat on current generation consoles our Chicago studio continues to deliver on amazing gameplay and intense fighting action that fans have come to expect and love from this long-standing franchise," said David Zucker of Midway. "We're extremely pleased to see that Armageddon has received an enormous amount of praise from both the media and consumers alike."

Yes indeed, even though it may never reclaim the intense popularity and ensuing prestige of the old 2D days, this is one series that may never die. And that's just fine by us.
