Baldur's Gate PS2 slated by Interplay.
Black Isle Studios, Interplay's subsidiary responsible for role playing games, recently confirmed the popular Baldur's Gate for Sony's 128-bit PlayStation 2. Entitled Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, the upcoming game will be specifically developed for the PlayStation 2 and will boast a fresh storyline. Dark Alliance will be set in 'The Forgotten Realms' -- a favorite campaign setting from Dungeons and Dragons. Snowblind Studios will develop the third-person title, which features new effects and magic spells.
"We are developing the game from the ground up to take full advantage of the sophisticated PlayStation 2 technology," explained Ryan Geithman, director of Snowblind Studios. "Our goal is to push the hardware to its limits, thus creating stunning environmental effects and highly detailed characters never before seen on the console."
The anticipated RPG is slated for a fall release on the PlayStation 2 console.
