Midway Announces Mortal Kombat Kollection For PS2
Well, if Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe isn't what you're looking for, perhaps you'd rather have the last three MK entries all in the same box for easy purchasing and access.
Midway has officially announced that a special collector's edition of the last three MK titles - Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks - will hit the PS2 this September for the agreeable price of $29.99. It's fittingly called the Mortal Kombat Kollection, and this is one box that should make for a good party pickup. Fighting games, no matter how outdated they may get, are always great fun for multiple players (who can forget the good ol' days of MK or Tekken tournaments?), and this Kollection should fit the bill.
"Mortal Kombat has been a pinnacle fighting franchise for well over a decade now and this is an ideal package for fans and collectors in terms of content and price point," said Mona Hamilton, vice president of marketing, Midway Home Entertainment. "With the PlayStation2 still holding the highest market share of any home console, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to offer an incredible value to our consumers as we ramp up for the highly anticipated launch of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe."
Yes, MK will always be a legend in the gaming world, even if most will say the 3D titles were never as good as the 2D arcade phenomena that helped broke new ground in the industry. But the last three MKs really aren't bad, and for only $10 apiece...sure, why not?
