Jenny McCarthy: The Latest Gaming Bombshell
See Full ImageJenny McCarthy isn't the woman who likes to claim she plays games 'cuz it's hip these days; she's the girl that started with Pac-Man way back in the day and hasn't stopped playing since.
A recent interview over at What They Play has turned us onto the fact that the former PlayBoy Playmate of the year and general performer (host, actress, model, etc.) has been gaming since the dawn of the industry, and she's quite the responsible do-gooder these days. She's a mother and a best-selling author; her books "Louder Than Words," "Mother Warriors," "Baby Laughs," and "Healing and Preventing Autism" have done quite well, but she clearly remembers her gaming roots. In answer to the first question, "What games did you play growing up?," McCarthy had this to say:
"Pac-Man, man. Let me tell you something, that was my game. We had a gaming thing going on in my block where I was the champion. I even made my own Atari glove because I had blisters all over my hand from playing Pac-Man. I figured out ways to cheat in Pac-Man to constantly get ghosts stuck and continue eating them. I was the renowned champion. I even sewed a Pac-Man onto my glove when I was eight years old. I was a gamer early on."

We're not that impressed with Hollywood celebs who like to say, "oh yeah, I play video games!" when in fact, they only played their first game a few weeks before the interview. But in some ways, it doesn't really surprise us that McCarthy was into games; she always had that surprisingly goofy, down-to-earth persona that made her a kooky, yet always beautiful, attraction. Somebody with that much charisma had to be a gamer, right? ...or are we just giving ourselves too much credit?
