Triple Play cover boy announced.

EA Sports has announced the signing of Oakland Athletics' first-basemen Jason Giambi, who will be on the game's cover. Triple Play Baseball (the 2002 has been dropped), will be released a little later this March, read the preview of the game here. Giambi who was also on ALL MVP for the year 2000, had this to say about the announcement:

"I've played video games for years, and I am very excited to be working with EA Sports," Giambi said. "The graphics in their games are so lifelike. It's amazing how real everything looks, right down to the swing of my bat. It's also cool to be among guys like Alex (Rodriguez), Sammy (Sosa), and Mike (Piazza) who've been on the cover. Triple Play will be a huge hit with the guys in the clubhouse."

"We are thrilled about Jason joining the EA Sports team," said Marc Aubanel, executive producer of Triple Play for EA Sports. "From his motion-captured data to his MVP insights, we believe Jason's input will allow us to create a more realistic on-field experience for gamers and baseball fans alike."

Once again a mid-March release date is aimed for Triple Play Baseball.
