Celebrity Deathmatch license secured by Take-Two.

Ever since Celebrity Deathmatch debuted back in 1997/98 on MTV, I imagined the license being easily turned into a videogame, it really was a no-brainer and I'm sure many others thought the same way. Just today Take-Two announced that they have secured worldwide publishing rights to Celebrity Deathmatch for next-generation consoles including the PS2. Take-Two didn't make any other comments, such as a release date, but the following was said by a representative:

"We are very excited about bringing such a successful franchise to market and feel that the combination of this leading entertainment brand with next-generation consoles is a perfect fit for Take-Two, MTV and even more importantly the fans of Celebrity Deathmatch," said Take-Two's Chief Executive Officer Kelly Sumner.

"We are very pleased with the success we've had in both building our brand franchises as well as our leading position on the next-generation consoles. Our recent titles, Oni, Midnight Club: Street Racing and Smuggler's Run for the PlayStation 2 have positioned Take-Two Interactive as a leader on the next-generation platforms," Sumner added.

Background info: Ever since the episode where Pamela Anderson's breasts exploded, Celebrity Deathmatch has become a big success, it's basically a no holds barred fight to the death, where anything goes. Nick Diamond and Johny Gomez are the commentators, but guest commentators such as Stone Cold Steve Austin (not a parady voice) have also appeared. And boxing legend/boxing referee/Judge, Mills Lane is the referee.

Stay tuned as PSX Extreme will try to uncover some details about this game.
