Crave Turning Man vs. Wild And Deadliest Catch Into Games
Sometimes I read new game announcements and sit back and think for a moment..."how exactly are they going to approach this?" is the dominating question.
Crave Entertainment has announced that they plan to produce video games based on the Discovery Channel's popular "Man vs. Wild" and "Deadliest Catch" TV shows. These titles will be coming to "all current video game platforms beginning in Spring 2010" and I have to admit that my interest has been piqued. In Man vs. Wild, host Bear Grylls will guide you through your outdoor adventure, providing you with "necessary survival skills in a wide variety of landscapes and climates." In Deadliest Catch, we'll become captains of our very own fishing boats and attempt to navigate the deadly Bering Sea, all the while looking to bring in huge scores of crab. Said Betsi Gijanto, Executive Vice President of Crave Entertainment:
"The Discovery Channel has captivated millions of viewers by delivering non-stop action and suspense in these unique programs. Man vs. Wild and Deadliest Catch capture man’s struggle to survive amidst the perils of nature on land and at sea. This rich content is a perfect concept for videogames."
But there is a clarification at the end of that press release that may disappoint some people: both games are going to appear on the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS, but the Xbox 360 will only receive "Man vs. Wild." Oh, and let's not forget that you'll be able to purchase both games on either the PlayStation Network or the Xbox Live Marketplace, so that's more incentive to give 'em a try. Personally, I'd just rather go with Bear and do all that crazy sh**...I'm insane, but I think it'd be awesome.
