Shadow Of The Colossus Reprint Hits Japan In February?

If you owned the PS2 and never played either ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, we must shake our heads in your general direction and offer up a big, "shame on you."

But if you missed the more recent SotC, maybe you'll get another shot to find it on store shelves in February. It's hardly confirmed but according to the Team ICO Gamers Blog, it seems that "major Japanese retailers have a new listing for a reprint of Shadow of the Colossus (The Best edition) for the 4th February 2010." Obviously, it's for the PS2 and there are links to the sources, although I can't read Japanese; perhaps one of you could locate the actual listings at those retailers. Obviously, if this turns out to be true, it can be easily deduced that such a move is considered pre-hype for Team ICO's upcoming The Last Guardian. We don't know when the latter will arrive, nor are we sure that this SotC re-release will ever see the light of day in North America, but it does make sense. We're talking about one of the most creative, accomplished and absorbing titles of last generation and to give gamers a second shot at buying it...well, that's just awesome. And our hopes for The Last Guardian really couldn't be much higher; definitely one of our "most anticipated."

Wouldn't it be great if this reprint consisted of bonus content? Like maybe an extra Colossus or two? Yeah, that probably won't happen (this isn't a remake for the PS3 in high-def, or something) but it's still worth thinking about. The game totally ruled.

I didnt get a chance to play these games.my ps2 broke and I dont have the BC ps3 .I would definitely buy them if they did a hd remake.

If you were to buy a used PS2 for under $75 and pick up ICO/SOTC it would be worth it for those 2 games a lone.

They need to just remake ICO and SotC like the God of War collection.

Also a PS2 copy SotC is not hard to find. I got it for $19.99 on amazon brand new. ICO on the other hand...

I missed out on both games during their initial release. I haven't been able to find ICO anywhere for less then $80. Luckely a nice PSX visitor and poster was kind enough to let me barrow his copy. ICO was fantastic. Playing through SotC now.

Ever since GOW Collection was announced, seems like just about any PS2 classic are being demanded to be remastered to HD.

SOtC is definitely the one game I want to be remake for PS3.

I heard that they cut a couple Colossus in the fist game so hopefully they'll add them to it. Wish they do this to ICO, I haven't played that game and I want to but its so hard to find.

It takes a special kind of person to single handedly create a gaming genre. Ueda is a gaming brainiac. I do belive I played both of those games with my jaw on the floor. And I'll tell you what else, and yes I'm going to go there, I'd rather have a SotC hd remake than a FFVII hd remake.

I would froth at the mouth if they announced a FFVII remake. But what would that remake really be other than hd graphics and hopefully a full voice over? If I had to choose one though ... I'm not saying I DON'T like FFVII...

I just want a SotC II!! I thought the first game was great. I always found myself just saying, "WOW!". Which I normally don't do with games.

An HD follow-up would be INSANE.

I just hope The Last Guardian lives up to my own hype and anticipation.

I still have both of my launch copies but would definitely rebuy them if it got the GoW collection treatment. I bought that too even though I still have both of my launch copies of GoW 1&2.

I'm actually hoping it doesn't. I'm going to be too busy with the flood of amazing games already known to be released for 2010. Giving The Last Guardian another year gives the game more time to be refined and something for me to look forward to.

This game was absolutely amazing! I still shake in fear anytime I fight a colossus in water or air because of how they made those battles feel. Im disappointed to hear this rumored release if for the PS2... and in Japan... BUT it does sorta spell hope for a release on PS3 if it sells well ^_^... doesn't it?

I'm buying this even if it only comes to PS2 and even though I already own both ICO and SOTC. The developers deserve the money and better sales, it's a shame to see brilliant art like SOTC not reach the mass audience it deserves.

The ending alone filled me with so much emotion I couldn't contain myself.

Good point. Team ICO deserves all the support they can get. ICO was so awesomely awesome, maybe if they see support behind any rerelease it will encourage them to recreate these two brilliant titles as well as expand on them.

A reprint would be cool, I guess. For those who haven't played it yet. I've got the original so it'd have to include something pretty enticing for me to shell out any cash for it.

I would be way more excited over an HD remix. I'm pumped for the GOW HD pack, and I'll be buying it to play through before GOW 3 comes around. But there is only one game I truly, really wanted to see get PS3-ized, and that's SOTC. This was one of the first games to actually take my breath away and I would love to see SOTC remastered or remade for PS3.

And while I'm in wishing mode... How bout a Legend of Dragoon sequel/remake? Oh boy!

ICO & SOTC was never on my radar when they came out, but since then there have been so many great references to them here over the last year, I've been eyeballing my 5 GS/EB's, plus another used games store for both..

Now, I'm not sure if that rare bird called ICO is a PS1 or a PS2 game(I've been told both but I know that's not right), but either way it's has been non-existent at any of my 6 brick & motor stores.

Anyway, I was finally able to find a copy of SOTC about a month ago,(and with a mint cover art, manual, & case).

But now that I finally got my SOTC copy, lately I've been seeing an average of 6-7 copies just at one of my local stores, so I'm thinking that it had already been re-released.

And before anyone says I can find Ico online, I pay "cash only" and I've already cut up my credit card cause the CC company had upped my % rate for no valid reason except greed.

And all the while as these very same scumbags stood in line with their sweaty palms out to grab their un-fair share of obama's "bailout...er....I mean...."handout" money. Yeah, the same money that's coming right out of our very own pockets.

ICO started out as a PS1 game, quite a bit of it was completed. This was around the time the PS2 was starting to come into play and so the project was scrapped for the PS1 and redesigned around the PS2's specs. I suggest you look at the videos on youtube showing it's PS1 version, the graphics are amazing for a PS1 game, it's hard to believe the PS1 could do what is shown.

BTW Biker you may or may not know but I own an original copy of ICO (bought it brand new during it's first week of release (I'm cool like that))

ANYWAYS if you want to borrow the game I'm more than willing to mail it to you, keep it for several months and then just mail it back to me.

im dying to play some car combat games, and sadly none are on the way for either psp or ps3.
only problem being EB and such dont sell ps2 games anymore.

I don't actually own a ps2 now. Only a PS3. In fact me and my brother used to share one. Never had the luxury of playing all those great games during the peak of it's greatness. I don't plan on getting a PS2 now though. But I'd be more than happy to purchase them both remastered for the PS3. I only here great things about these games especially SOTC. Can't wait for them to get the GOW treatment if they do!
