Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow Confirmed For PS2?

Hey, look! PS2 news! These are few and far between so get your fill while they last.

While fans of the series probably would prefer a PlayStation 3 iteration, this can still be construed as good news: according to Joystiq, the ESRB has rated the PSP stealth/action title, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, for the PS2. It does seem a little odd that Sony would bother to release such a late port but then again, we've really been missing this solid franchise. Back in the original PlayStation days, Syphon Filter - although viewed by some as a poor man's Metal Gear Solid - garnered its fair share of fans, and the series eventually featured several successful PSP installments, including Logan's Shadow. And here's a suggestion: maybe they're planning to bring this to the PS2 to prepare gamers for a whole new title on current consoles...you know how they often re-release old versions of movies when the new take hits store shelves? That type of thing. Of course, we haven't heard anything about a new Syphon Filter but still, we can hope...

If you never got a chance to play any of the games in question, you might want to give this one a shot when it comes to the PS2.

Cool,
I loved my SF:Dark Mirror PS2 port, so any additional news on Syphon Filter is certainly good news to me!

Bring it on, & ramp up a SF PS3 game for us too

Some one here suggested they do this with Peace Walker. I'd buy.

I never got into Syphon Filter much. My dad had it and i had no desire to play it. I got a free digital copy with a Qore episode i bought way back, i couldn't believe how terrible it was. ha

They should just make a new one for the PS3.

I would buy it... If it had splitscreen :)

It was great playing Syphon Filter 2(3 maybe?) with my cousins when they came over. The knife animation was so cheesy :P

Most of the finest games on the PS2 would still sell well, and be great games even now. So I don't see why companies don't port at least the PSP games to the PS2. MGS:PW would sell hugely on the PS2, and it would have better graphics than the PSP version.

yeah that would be bad ass but then could hurt psp game sales. either way still cool idea. since i have a b/c ps3 i would be able to play them on my ps3. i like the idea more ;)

Games like Kingdom Hearts birth by sleep, even though it hasn't even released in Europe or America yet, they should already make a PS2 version for it, just so I can play it on my PS3.

honestly its been out for what 3 years?
people still buy ps2 games?
honestly stop wasting your time and ours and bring syphon filter to the ps3.
i swear to god if sony dont announce syphon filter 5 for the ps3 at this years E3 im going ape sh*t and calling Armageddon on their a$$!

I could try it and play it on my b/c 60 gig, but I most likely won't.

Ye i think there testing the water for a ps3 game, although it is heavily rumoured that it has been in development for 4-5 years for the ps3 anyway.

I would love it if they did the same with peace walker, gow CoO

I never played one of those, but I always thought the title sounded cool. I guess if you're syphoning something, it would be a good idea to filter it.

I could never understand how Syphon Filter was a poor man's MGS. First the gameplay of both games are very different. The cameras are not the same. Gabe and Snake don't act the same. And Finally the stories are very very different. In my opinion I thougt Syphon Filter was a better game than MGS. When people say Syphon Filter was a poor man's MGS, that always kind of piss me off. I have nothing against MGS but I'm just saying.

@ fullmetal enjoy that 60gb while u still have it i had a 60gb when thay first came out $600 no longer have ill give u 1 gess why i don't have now???
