Activision scores SpiderMan movie license.

Today Activision acquired the agreement to exclusively publish and develop videogames under the Spider-Man movie license from Marvel. This deal will allow Activision to release the movie based Spider-Man game on the PC, GameBoy Advance, Playstation 2, GameCube and XBox. Spider-Man which will be directed by Sam Raimi will hit theatres in May 2002, so I would expect the game to arrive possibly after the release of the movie. Activision will also be able to produce games related to the Spider-Man movie, be it a TV cartoon or movie sequel. In related news Activision has extended their deal to publish/develop Spider-Man games based on the comic book franchise.

"We are thrilled to create interactive games based on the storyline, characters, and action-packed sequences from the upcoming Spider-Man film," Ron Doornink, president and COO of Activision, stated. "Activision will bring our own brand of interactive magic and vision to this unique property and continue building on the success we have already had with the Spider-Man franchise."

We'll deliver more incite on this as it becomes available.
