PS2 gets modified to fight piracy.

As you have probably noticed, the issue of piracy like mod chips is starting to heat up. We have reported earlier that there are already online shops selling PS2 mod chips and Sony is clearly not happy about this. So what are they going to do? What the always do, modify the internal parts of the console system to make it harder for piracy penetration.

In July they are planning to start shipping Playstation 2 model SCPH 15000 and if you are not aware of this, the current Playstation 2 is SCPH 10000. This is not anything big for Sony, they have done this with the original Playstation more than five times (actually we lost track already). There is no difference in the way the PS2 will function, it is just a simple rearrangement of internal parts and circuits. This modification won't keep the piracy permanently away from the system, but it will give Sony some time, until the next internal modification.
