Enix and GameArts to Release Grandia X.
It's a great day for RPG gamers all over the world. Just recently Enix and GameArts have signed a deal that will allow Enix to publish Grandia 2 for PS2 in Japan, meanwhile the US version will be handled by UbiSoft. With Enix's large reputation, most notably because of its Dragon Warrior/Quest franchise, Game Arts feels that they are the perfect 3rd party to work with. Reportedly Enix has invested 99.2 million yen (15% of Game Arts) into the developer. As many of you should know Game Arts is also the creator of the Lunar series, which is published by Working Designs.
Enix and GameArts plan not only to release a PS2 version of Grandia 2 in Japan this winter, but also an all new version of Grandia, called Grandia X (as in the letter, not roman-numeral). Grandia X is expected to be released next year in Spring... in Japan that is. Neither Grandia 2 or Grandia X have received US releases, but I'm very confident that we'll see a lot more of Grandia X at this Fall's Tokyo Game Show. I just want to leave off with a little something... if anybody ever mentions Grandia X as an XBox exclusive because it has the "X" in its title, you are indeed one hell of Microsoft fan-boy.
