ICO release date.

Well okay so the headline is a bit misleading, but Sony has indeed announced when it plans to ship their excellent looking RPG/Adventure ICO. A Summer 2001 release date has been confirmed in today's press release from Sony. As you may have guessed Ico is the name of the young wonderer who was mysteriously born with horns, shortly he was kidnapped and put into a castle's tomb, where he would be sacrificed. The tomb is made out of rocks, so you can predict that he will make a hole for himself and leap into the water waaaaaaay below him. Of course doing so causes him to go unconscious, and he dreams of a princess in the very same castle. So as he is swept to shore by currents and awakes. Amazingly his dream wasn't a dream after all...

"ICO utilizes the technology and power of PlayStation 2 to deliver a riveting storyline featuring breathtakingly brilliant landscapes, beautifully-rendered characters and spectacular lighting effects," said Ami Blaire, director, product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. "Gamers will truly enjoy this unique interactive experience filled with logical puzzles and adventure which features graphics so realistic, gamers will find it difficult to differentiate reality from fantasy."

Remember folks, this Summer will be the release of Sony's fifth great 1st party title. (Excluding Fantavision), we've just got Dark Cloud and Cool Boarders 2001, Twisted Metal: Black will roll out on the 19th of June, Gran Turismo 3 will be out on July 11th, and ICO is likely to follow some time after. Stay tuned for a preview of ICO, and I'll try to score some screenshots of the game as well.
