Sony cuts PS2 price in Japan.
Sony has announced that it will be cutting the price of the PS2 in Japan by 4,800 yen, to prepare for the battle against Nintendo and Microsoft. The original suggested retail price of 39,800 yen will be reduced to 35,000 yen (about $281.70) which is also a drop from the Japanese PlayStation.com online store of 2,800 yen.
The decision has been made by Sony to ready itself for battle in the upcoming console war. The price reduction, however, has had no direct correlation with the U.S. or European market, and is still in question if there will be any move made in the future. We as gamers are speculating a small price drop, or continuing deals in the midst of GT3 being bundled with the PS2.
