Final Fantasy X sells almost 2 million
It has been announced today that, as of July 24, Final Fantasy X has sold more than 1.92 million copies, almost duplicating the success seen with FFVII and FFVIII on the original Playstation. A total of 2.14 million units had been shipped, and of those 70 percent were sold the first day. Approximately 90 percent have been sold in the four days since launch, which causes speculation that the original shipment will soon be sold out in Japan. Due to this phenomenon, Square has negotiated a deal with Sony to produce more units for next shipment. The US had better set itself for a similar selling frenzy, as FFX is due out early in 2002.
