Rockstar re-confirms Max Payne for PS2
With the hit PC game, Max Payne, Rockstar is preparing the title for a PS2 release as early as this fall 2001. With the PC version already being released in the UK in April, Max Payne has seen an incredible response in sales and popularity. The game debuted as number one when it was released in the UK, and set records for a Take-Two PC title.
"To date, Max Payne has represented the largest critical and sell-through success Take-Two has ever had on the PC," said Kelly Sumner, Chief Executive Officer. "We are very pleased to leverage the successful Max Payne brand franchise by releasing videogame console versions of the product this fall.''
The PS2 version of the games is being developed by Rockstar studio, also developer of Oni, while the PC title was developed by Remedy Entertainment and produced by 3D Realms. It will be interesting to see the success this game obtains when it is hopefully released this fall. A transition like this can sometimes be difficult, however, we hope for a promising title.
