Sega engages in $20 million promotion plan
It was announced today that Sega would be spending upwards of $20 million to promote its Sega Sports brand. Included in this promotion are both print and broadcasting advertisements, promotions with key retailers, and promotions at major sporting events. Also included in this promotion will be the development of a new Sega Web site designed specifically for its sport brand. Players will also be able to compete in tournaments and receive national rankings.
"Sega Sports is a brand that has set the benchmark for quality sports gaming for more than a decade," said Chris Gilbert, executive vice president of marketing, Sega of America. "Now, we are ready to take our quality titles to the next level as a platform-agnostic third-party publisher of great sports games. When we say Sega Sports will bring 'all key sports to all key platforms,' we want consumers to know there is a choice. And once they get a taste of what Sega Sports delivers, there will be no turning back."
Sega has also gotten in with ABC Monday Night Football, as it will begin its nationwide commercials September 17. Sega will additionally be an official sponsor of the Super Bowl, while it continues to promote the fact that it is now a multi-platform publisher.
