Britney Spears signs gaming contract
With the first videogame title scheduled for a spring of 2002 release, Britney Spears has decided to sign an exclusive agreement with THQ Inc. to publish games featuring the pop sensation. Platforms included in this deal are the Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, and PC, with her contract extending through 2005. Although no official word has come to what genre this game will feature, we at PSX Extreme expect some sort of singing and dancing combination with the gamer in control.
"Britney's move into interactive entertainment is a natural extension for the Britney brand," stated Britney Spears Co-Manager Larry Rudolph, Rudolph & Beer, LLC. "The growth in the interactive category driven by new gaming technologies means fans can look forward to an ultra-realistic adventure through Britney's world."
"Since the 1999 release of her Baby One More Time album, Britney Spears has become a pop culture icon whose talent and style are coveted across the globe," stated Jeff Lapin, vice chairman and COO, THQ. "We are delighted to be working with Britney Brands in bringing one of the biggest names in entertainment to the PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance and PC."
