What's new about PS2 model SCPH-15000?

With Sony shipping the new model of Playstation 2 in Japan, we wanted to know whatís the difference. So we asked Paul at if there is anything new about the new model SCPH 15000. I was told that there is no difference between the model SCPH 10000 and 15000, and there is nothing that keeps Mod Chips from being installed on the PS2.

Of course if it is a new model, there must be something different about it, and there is. First there is no way to watch international DVD movies anymore on the system. After all of the problems Sony had with that DVD region trick, they decided to get the hardware modified so that people canít use copied Utility Disk V1.0 that are illegally sold around the world. The other noticeable difference is the darker green circuit board, probably means nothing.
