Sims possibly coming to PS2
Electronic Arts and Maxis announced today that they have plans to bring the PC game, The Sims, to the Playstation 2. The Sims is one of the best selling game on the PC and has stayed at the top of the charts in sales since it was released. According to a financial newsletter by Interactive Entertainment Weekly, EA has strong plans to develop a PS2 game based on The Sims. Also, Investment Banking Services Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin's Interactive Entertainment Weekly, EA will "market a version of 'The Sims' for the PlayStation 2 system in its fiscal year ending in March 2003, with the aim of a holiday 2002 launch."
"We have not yet made an official announcement about the Sims for PS2," said Maxis' PR representative Patrick Buechner. "But The Sims is the hottest new IP [intellectual property] on the planet, with 4.2 millions units old in North America, and so we are exploring possibilities with The Sims on PlayStation 2."
