Colin McRae 3.0 details

Codemasters has detailed their driving machine in the rally car experience coming to the PS2 this Q3 of 2002, Colin McRae Rally 3. The Ford Focus RS World Rally Car is the vehicle that will be utilized in this title, as it is said to provide the most realistic and breathtaking sense of rally racing seen to date. The ability to actually drive a rally car and be part of a professional rally team is perfectly executed in Codemasters’ newest production. The company has had exclusive privileges working with members of the team responsible for the Ford Focus RS WRC, as they have traveled to the 2001 World Rally Championship and to the Ford Racing Headquarters in Cockermouth, England (stop snickering you pervs!!).

"Graphically, the in-game Ford Focus RS WRC will be over 16 times more detailed than the model in Colin McRae Rally 2.0. The polygon count for the Focus model is up to a staggering 13,000, as compared to about 800 for the previous game." Explains Rick Nath, the game’s Associate Producer. "Working at this level means we’ll be effectively giving players a real Focus to rally, making the gameplay so much richer. We can fully detail the car’s interior, its engine bays and the chassis detail. We’re also working on suspension and a more realistic damage engine with opening and detachable panels, doors, tailgates, bonnets, bumpers, and windows."
