Rumors Squared: "Resident Evil Code: Not GC Exclusive"
The summer announcement of Capcom and Nintendo's alliance to bring Resident Evil over to the GameCube made the Nintendo fanboys react in the most fanboyish of ways. Nintendo loyalists, including various members of the press, chanted claims of a "long term exclusivity contract". Allow me, an un-biased hardcore videogamer, to set the record straight. The Resident Evil franchise is NOT a GameCube exclusive. Contrary to what you may have heard, Nintendo's Resident Evil contract reads as a six game contract. Meaning, that after Capcom publishes six Resident Evil games on the GameCube, the contract is no longer pending. Capcom has already said that they will be re-creating every past RE title (excluding Gun Survivor), and two unique titles: RE: Zero and RE4. Nintendo fanboys have blown this whole deal completely out of proportion, and I'm not stating BS here, these are facts, simple facts everybody should be well aware of. The list of Resident Evil games is most likely to read like this: Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Code: Veronica (or it's possible that Gun Survivor 2 may take its place), Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4. It needs to be said that the word "exclusive" has lost absolutely all meaning in this particular console war, and it's a damn shame. But nevertheless, PS2 owners shouldn't fret. RE4 will eventually be released on the PS2.
