GTA3 having trouble in Australia
It has been announced that Rockstar is having difficulty getting Grand Theft Auto 3 into Australia. Apparently, GTA3ís amount of violence and action is causing a problem with Australian retailers. Although GTA3 is NOT banned in either North America or Europe, the rating system is proving to be different down under. The Office of Film and Literature (OFLC) rates games stricter than those in North America, especially ones containing mature content. It has fewer classifications and is far less lenient when delving into such material.
"It is true that GTA3 PS2 has been refused classification [in Australia] and we are currently in an appeal process with the OFLC and will be having the appeal hearing with them on Tuesday, Dec 11," said James Ellingford, managing director of Take-Two Australia." "We do feel confident that our appeal will be successful and will keep you informed as more information comes to hand," added Ellingford.
