EA to co-publish LEGO software

Electronic Arts has announced the signing of an agreement with LEGO Company to co-publish several LEGO Software products. The software titles will be on multiple consoles and handheld platforms, with LEGO Racers, Bionicle, LEGO Island, Academy of Flight, LEGO Sports, and Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension as the current franchises covered under the agreement. Over a three-year period, Electronic Arts will provide marketing support for more than 30 LEGO Software titles.

"This agreement will bring LEGO Company's impressive range of intellectual properties to a slightly older and more entertainment-driven demographic that is already familiar with EA's software," said Tom Frisina, vice president of EA Distribution. "For EA, it's an opportunity to reach out to younger gamers after the success of the Harry Potter games.''
