Sony and Fujitsu negotiate
Sony has announced that it is negotiating with Internet company, Fujitsu, about a possible aqcuisition of the Japanese subsidary, Nifty Corp. The possible transaction would be valued at more than $760 million, as Nifty Corp. is Japan's largest ISP. Along with negotiations with Fujitsu, Sony has also announced partnerships with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, Yahoo Japan, and Softbank Corp. for the Japanese market. Sony is lookinbg heavily into providing high-speed broadband services to PS2 owners. Sony already has partnerships with North American companies, including AOL, and hopes to continue to progress in the internet business.
