FFXI may be cause for HDD cancelation in Japan

SCEI has announced that the next shipment of PlayStation 2 HDD hard drive/network adapter units have been cancelled. All preorders have also been cancelled, as the the shipment was originally due for release in Japan on February 8. More information is expected from SCEI on January 8.

The main speculation for the cancellation center on the beta tests involving Final Fantasy XI. It is believed there was either an incompatibility problem or SCEI just wants to store as many units as possible before FFXI is released. PSX Extreme will keep you updated.
