Dolby Sound continues to make its way on the PS2

Dolby Laboratories announced today that numerous next-generation videogames will be using the technology already harnessed on select titles.

The list of top-selling games for the week ending December 1, 2001, includes these PlayStation 2 games:

Metal Gear Solid 2 (Konami, Dolby Surround with Dolby Digital cinematics)

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (Activision, Dolby Surround)

Madden NFL 2002 (Electronic Arts, Dolby Surround)

NBA Live 2002 (Electronic Arts, Dolby Surround)

Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies (Namco, Dolby Surround)

"Traditionally the focus of video games has been on graphics; this is changing now, as consumers are hooking up their game consoles to their surround systems and experiencing gaming audio in a whole new way," said Dennis Staats, Director of Computer and Games Technology Marketing, Dolby Laboratories. "The adoption of interactive surround audio by game developers for the top titles on all of the next-generation platforms is a significant advance in the video game experience."
