Attack Gran Turismo
SCEI announced today a special fan DVD in Japan for Gran Turismo followers. The game is titled Attack Gran Turismo and no release date has been given yet. It will be available for 2,500 yen and is packed with features especially for GT fans.
The disc is divided up as follows:
Opening: Attack GT kicks things off with a few minutes of director Kazunori Yamauchi cruising around the real-life Tokyo Route 246 in his Porsche 911 GT3.
Director Interview: The next section is a two-part interview with Yamauchi, between 30 and 40 minutes. The first half covers the past and future development of the Gran Turismo games, including notes on first-hand car research, the development of the GT-FORCE steering wheel, and what might be in store for the next game in the series. Following that is a lengthy tutorial from Yamauchi on driving techniques that can improve your times and performance in the game, illustrated using real cars.
Super Machine Gallery: Following the dry tutorial bits, we have a documentary on some of the most powerful and unusual cars in the games, such as the WRC racers, Pike's Peak hill climb cars, and new concept cars.
Super Driving: After showing how to drive in real life, Yamauchi explains how to drive in the game proper. The bulk of the DVD, filling 50 minutes, is a series of videos, with commentary, of Yamauchi driving through five of the most challenging courses -- Trial Moutain, Tokyo R246, Laguna Seca, Autumn Ring, and Tahiti Maze. Videos of the game itself, the GT-FORCE wheel, and complete log data for his laps are included to show exactly how it's done.
