Terminator details and release date
French based 3rd party, Infogrames, has issued an official announcement on the status of Terminator for the PS2 and Xbox. Subtitled, Dawn of Fate, the game is a sequel to Terminator 2 (the motion picture) as the game is set in the year 2027 and leads up to 2029. The game is also set to answer questions and portray events that occured before the events in the original Terminator occurred.
"Terminator: Dawn of Fate packs the same frenetic action and over-the-top battle sequences that made the blockbuster movies one of the most popular franchises of all time," said Laddie Ervin, director of marketing for Infogrames, Inc.’s Los Angeles label. "Since Terminator: Dawn of Fate takes place before the first Terminator movie, we’ve developed new elements for the Terminator universe, including all new Skynet Hunter/Killer (HK) machines, characters and storylines that would have existed before the first movie began. I strongly urge all Xbox and Playstation 2 gamers to sharpen their skills, they’re in for more no-holds-barred-metal, stomping cyborg warfare than they’ve ever experienced in a video game before."
As you progress through the game's story mode, you'll destroy other Terminators and HKs through cryptic locations that have war written all over them. Eventually, the game will send you back in time to where the first Terminator began. You're mission: protect Sarah Connor, as Kyle Reese, from the Terminator. There will be three playable characters, including Kyle Reese, Catherine Luna, a special ops officers, and a secret character that Infogrames won't say a word about. Each and every character is unique in his/her own way. There will be a selection of 20 weapons to choose from, including rocket launchers, shock batons and explosives (C4s, grenades and etc). Lastly, Terminator will feature 12 levels, all of which are fully interactive. The game will be developed by Paradigm Entertainment, makers of Spy Hunter, and is set to ship sometime during this Summer (2002).
