  My desire for games like Midtown Madness and Midnight Club: Street Racing is very high! I loved the intense speeds, and the awesome locations to race on, like my hometown NYC. Midnight was a concept that needed to be re-used and improved further upon. On New Year's Day 2001, I previewed S.R.C. It was a racing title that was quite early in development, and had no publisher under its wing. In production by Criterion Studios, S.R.C was looking extremely promising and my anticipation meter already began boiling! So, Acclaim drops me a press release and three new screenshots of the project formerly known as S.R.C, and my what a smile I had on my face. Leaping to my feet, mesmerized by the goodness of what seems to be one of the most promising titles of the year, I have officially began my wait for Burnout.    Even the early screenshots had begun suggesting that, the soon to be, Burnout would be a very worthy game to admire, visually. The car models looked refined, and were only missing some polish techniques such as chroming. Though, what I had admired most about of those early screens, were the textures. Very nicely defined looking roads and buildings, created a very sophisticated environment for the gamer. But with evolution, things got only better. Looking at these new screenshots of Burnout, I was fascinated when I laid my eyes on them. One screenshot shows a gorgeous sunrise, while another demonstrates a breathtaking scene of the whole car's glass windows shattering. The particle effects are like no other. Included as well in Burnout, are real-time crashes, which will leave heavy damage on vehicles. Which means your car will flip, roll, and slide, and then have the bumps, scrapes and dents to prove it. With background texture detail improving even more, Burnout is one visually impressive title, which is sure to please PS2 owners.

   Without a doubt, Burnout is one extensive title, boasting one extensive features list. To start things off, Burnout will feature an impressive AI engine, that will therefore create realistic traffic like conditions, producing an almost "living, breathing environment." There will be three distinct driver behaviors, which I believe will be something along the lines of, furious, steady and cautious. Poised to become the next "white knuckle" racer on the PS2, Burnout will follow in the footsteps of Midnight Club as an illegal street racing title. Each one of the 16 stages you choose from will feature over 300 A.I controller vehicles, which are completely interactive, that means you can smash 'em up! You will be given many vehicles to choose from yourself, many of which resemble actual streetcars, the only difference is that these have altered names. As mentioned prior, the game will allow a pick of out of 16 stages, which range from Asia, to USA, to Europe. Lastly, as a gameplay feature, there will be a head-to-head two player mode. Now, to put the icing on the cake, Criterion has enabled and implemented Dolby Surround sound, for all of you audio fanatics out there. Let's just hope that the game will feature audio to back up the Dolby inclusion. Burnout is scheduled for a November release, oooh I can't wait any longer.
