Following up on one of the most controversial, violent, and massive games ever, Rockstar and colleagues are at the drawing boards again in hopes of a successful spin-off. That's right -- while GTA 4 is still coming out, GTA: Vice City is more of a spin-off, if you will, and the end product is everything we experienced last year in a new setting and time frame.

GTA: Vice City takes great aspects derived from the third title in the series and brings them a level higher. Set in an 80s-esque time frame, players will roam about a town akin to Miami entitled Vice City, and you'll take the role of Tommy Vercety, whose allegiance in the Liberty City Mafia takes him to the exotics of Vice City.

Making the city look more legit is the deluge of mid-80 traits and styles. Characters are dressed up in bright, Hawaiian-like styles, and the cars fit the tone perfectly, to boot -- making Vice City its own game, not just a GTA 3 rip-off. In addition, though, players will also get the chance to pilot golf carts, boats, helicopters, and, yes, even motorcycles -- our desires are granted to a tee.

Adding even more freshness to the game is the addition in the players weaponry. The arsenal is now even more robust, including hammers, chain saws, M60 machine guns and magnum revolvers, making this gory game even more so.

Helping to set the tone even more so for the game's oldie atmosphere is its oldie soundtrack. GTA: Vice City is furthering in production nicely and is looking to be a solid title, with or without that many new inclusions to the series. We'll keep y'all posted.
