Stunt Squad Preview
Criterion Studios is not only in the process of developing an excellent looking racing game but also in charge of developing a great looking hoverboard game called Stunt Squad. If anybody here played the marvelous Jet Grind Radio for Dreamcast then you may have a slight idea of what Stunt Squad may turn out like for Playstation 2. We have the two very first screenshots of Stunt Squad and to say the least this game is gorgeous with a capital "G".
Judging by these two screenshots this can very well turn out to be yet another one of PS2s many visually stunning games. Criterion is not only playing their cards right with S.R.C but Stunt Squad as well, and it certainly looks like the new year 2001 will be quite possibly the best for videogaming history. The skater detail is nothing short of amazement, and believe it or not these screenshots are actual visuals taken straight out of the game and not renders. The bodies look superbly designed, almost on the caliber of SSX if not exceeding it, they surely look better than Criterion's Dreamcast effort called TrickStyle which was hailed as the second to best looking DC game of 9/9/99, Soul Calibur of course earning the top spot. From what I can tell by these two shots is that first of all the environmental detail is extraordinary a lot like TrickStyle's was, and the lighting/special effects coming from the lamp posts or grinds from the board look spectacular.
I want to assure people that this is NOT a sequel to TrickStyle as believed by many, this is in fact a whole new game that is in development for the PS2. As said on the Criterion website, Stunt Squad is supposed to be part mission based and part stunts, and if the lamp post hand-stand screenshot is any indication of what to expect from this game, then I'm oozing with anticipation inside my body. In Stunt Squad your method of travel is a hovering skateboard a lot like Jet Grind Radio had hovering roller blades. The game is almost as early as S.R.C is, but both games look like next-generation material and that's not exaggerated statement. My prediction is that Stunt Squad should see a release date sometime around Summer 2001.
