Currently Playstation 2's most anticipated adventure game, Dark Cloud is a game that keeps on looking better and better. Sony sent us three screenshots of the US version of Dark Cloud running on the PS2. One of these screenshots shows the main character, Toan, fighting off a dragon-like monster in real-time combat. The stats obviously show health, what appears to be weapon strength and to the bottom of the screen is shown a speed meter. As you can see Dark Cloud allows you to play as other characters, not just Toan. The cast of characters in Dark Cloud includes:

Shao: She is shown in a screenshot and also reminds me a lot of Saria from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Her primary weapon is pachinkos, metallic balls.

Shida: A swordsman, who has crossed the path of the Demon before, eventually he meets up with Toan.

The Demon: A purple fat-bastard with Arabian like clothing if you will. This so called Demon is supposed to be the antagonist of the game. His exact role is not known, but he does possess some devious powers.

Wise Wizard: He is an old wizard who helps out Toan in his quests and events. He's also the defender of the western continent.

Colonel Flag: Along with Shida, Flag is a pretty cool looking military character. He leads the Eastern Military Force, but too bad he's a bad guy.

Goro: A big tough guy with a huge hammer on his shoulders. His village was destroyed by the Demon and revenge is what he obviously seeks for.

Ruby: A mystical back-up protagonist, Ruby is a heroine who looks like she will provide Toan a great deal of help. She is armed with magical rings, a lot like Mint from Threads of Fate.

Unagaga: I'm not too sure whether or not Unagaga is pro or anti in the game, but I would guess he is a hero in the game. He is some kind of warrior from a tribe of nomads.

There will be some changes between the US and Japanese versions, but we will leave that info until May, when it is made official by Sony at E3 2001. Currently Dark Cloud is expected to be released in the beginning of June 2001. We will do our best to pump out as many more US screenshots from Sony as possible. Stay tuned.
