"Action/Adventure" Call Of Duty Likely Will Be Canceled
When it was revealed that developer Sledgehammer Games was working on an "action/adventure" iteration in the Call of Duty franchise, most everyone was surprised and a bit skeptical.
Sledgehammer has also participated in the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which launches on November 8. However, according to studio general manager Glen Schofield, when MW3 is out the door, Sledgehammer won't return to cranking on that action-oriented CoD. Based on the reports, Schofield said they'll probably have to cancel it, as the setting is "too obscure."
"We'll probably cancel it. They gave us the choice of: Do you want to work on Modern Warfare 3 or do you want to continue working on this? And we really liked that. We liked what we were doing. It's third person, probably set at a time that might have 'niched' it too much. I bet that if we had kept going, within a month or two, I probably would have switched the time period but kept the gameplay. It had some really cool stuff."
In the future, Sledgehammer won't be assisting in other CoD installments; in truth, they want to make one on their own. They're not yet sure if it'll be in the Call of Duty universe, but one thing is certain: Sledgehammer feels stronger thanks to recent hires, and they're going to tackle a new project solo. Added Schofield:
"I think that we will work alone on our next project," he said. "This game has allowed both Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games to hire, and we hired really strong teams, both of us. We needed to come together on this one, but since then we've both grown; we're both over 100 people now.
Initially, we weren't fully functional because we had to learn a new engine. Now we have, I think the best thing that could happen for Activision would be for us to both go off and make our own game. Whether that's a Call of Duty game or not is up in the air. I plan to continue working on Call of Duty."
Well, who wish they would've done that action/adventure CoD? And do you think Activision will simply let them make what they want with "Call of Duty" on the box...?

CALL OF DUTY: INDIAN WARS.......
You are a member of the 7th cavalry. Ride with Custer as you are involved in some of the most infamous raids of the Indian Wars, all culminating in the final showdown at the Little Bighorn river. Trust your Henry rifle (the first semi-automatic rifle) and your Colt .45 (the gun that tamed the west) as you attempt to survive overwhelming Indian forces lead by Chiefs' Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse.
It could have the requisite controversy (massacre of the injuns camps, women, children, and old people). You could play a level as a indian scout betraying your people. I cant believe Activision hasnt done this. I wonder how much money I could get for the idea......

Oh well, good luck with the new project, & hope it's going to be a brand new non-COD IP for a change.
It's just a shame Sledgehammer's is under Ant-vision's umbrella......oops, I meant to say...
in Anti-vision's clutches.

I love how he says their setting would have niched it too much. If it was something like the Civil War, I'm sure people would have been really interested to see how it would work out. And if it looked cool enough, people would have jumped onboard (even the old fans who are now sick and tired of the lack of new things in this franchise). But hey, I guess they just can't do that because...its too different.
Btw Glen Schofield, all this talk of learning a new engine is complete BS. Its the same damn engine repainted in a new, bland color.
