Ultimate Battlefield 3 Simulator: Are You Ready For War?

When we got an e-mail with "so you think BF3 is realistic?" in the subject line, we figured it was just another Modern Warfare 3 promoter.

But instead, we were directed to YouTube, where we saw something that is bound to incite plenty of discussion amongst gamers and non-gamers alike.

It's the Ultimate Battlefield 3 simulator, built by Channel 5's The Gadget Show. It features an omni-directional treadmill that actually requires you to move (not sure about actual running), a wireless gun system, a grand total of five high-definition projectors within a massive dome, and ridiculous surround sound.

Even more insane is the fact that this piece of virtual reality craziness can actually be purchased in the UK. They'll tell you how much it'll cost on October 24 at 8 p.m. on Channel 5, when the Ultimate Battlefield 3 Simulator debuts on the show. How much would you be willing to pay for it?

Looks like I am going to sacrifise the SLS AMG 2010 for this, does that answer your question?

I would give my left nut, mind you the left one is my favorite and no doubt was the workhorse in the creation of my son. Does that answer your question?

Well, obviously. The minute anything becomes a true-blue simulation, accessibility drops to almost nil.

Well the second comment was a movie quote....

But either or, this thing should be for arcades or fairs or something. I dont see this as something to play in your home every night. But if they had a exhibt for the military or something along those lines, I can see this thing having a niche.

"The Battle-Dome"

Its effing sick. But tell me...

Can it only be used for bf3?
Or could you run any game on/in it? Say, Skyrim?

wackazoa,

HA, nowhere as good as Charlie Daniels played against ole Lucifer, but I could learn
(especially if he was poking that pitchfork at me).

Hmmm, I wonder if Rocksmith(which BTW just released today) could teach me a few notes, LOL

I would let anyone I know, give up anything they had, so I could come over and play it.

So damn cool! If it could play any game, I'd be sold. All I'd need to do is sell a kidney and my car, and I'd be all set.

Did that dude just get shot with a paintball? Freakin' awesome! Now that's virtual reality.
I would like to see something using that "roller floor" , sony's new 3d head gear, and something like the move to track your "weapon" of choice. This set up would fit in my gameroom, but with all the things this thing claims to have I'd need a warehouse to play any game.

The hell with getting a warehouse, I'd just throw down a cot into one of the corners in that simulator

i love the gadget show on channel 5 (I'm Uk resident).I can't wait to see this episode as it'll be no doubt hilarious seeing how the presenters react when thrown into this thing. I think the simulator it's self is gonna be pretty epic. Does surprise me though because if it's like £100,000 to fix it all together etc why isn't EA with there marketing budget getting a few of these together and taking them on the road to shopping centres or attractions. They could probably even get away with charge a fiver or tenner for people to try it out.

There was the word paintball at the end so i guess it could mean it hurt as much as a paintball ammo .I definitely would nt play like i always do ( up close and personal ) when in there for sure .

I can't wait to go pick this up today! I just love fps. My favorite part is actually the guns. I just bought a MP5 from the game here http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AR-HK-MP5-A5-TN.htm its so cool and they have a bunch of different guns from the different fps games.
