PlayStation 3D Display Dated, Sony Answers Your Questions

If you don't have a 3D HDTV and you're a gamer, you might just have to spring for Sony's new 3D Display.

Previously revealed at E3, this advanced monitor will go on sale on November 13, and Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has tossed up a lengthy Q&A to assist in your purchase decision.

It is confirmed that if you pre-ordered the PlayStation 3D Display from a retailer that advertised a free copy of Resistance 3 on or before September 30, you will still get the game with the monitor. For the record, the offer officially ended on October 1. As for what you receive for your $499.99, you get a pair of 3D Glasses, an HDMI cable, and a copy of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, another super fun PS3 exclusive. Oh, and you don't have to play in 3D.

Other answers include the technical specs (like the Edge LED backlighting and 240Hz refresh rate), the integrated subwoofer, that highly publicized feature known as SimulView, compatibility information, and more details concerning the new 3D Glasses. It could be a great option for those who really want to step into the next generation of gaming, and can't wait to try it out with a friend.

If a game supports it. In 3D or simulview, I think, projects two images at 720p

They should include two pairs of glasses since the SimulView feature is a major selling point.

I think that the screen is too small to effectively utilize simulview. The screen should have been 40+inches.

Yeah I was hoping for something in the 30's myself but what they are pushing it for (the 3D tv for gamers) I wont be complaining that much. I cant wait to try the simulview out...I'm sure if it's well received Sony might add it to larger TV's.

Is that jessica chobot vallarta boy? just curious... Anyway, this sounds really cool but i already have a 50 inch 3d tv. the problem is that 3d doesn't have as much as and effect on a smaller screen. you'll have to sit pretty dang close to the screen for it to have an impact. I'm sure it's really cool and it'll be an awesome tv but it does have a few things going against it such as size and the edge lit led panel. Sure the tv will be thin but i wouldn't be surprised it it has a bunch of spotting in dark scenes. Plasma is the way to go in my opinion but to each his own. Also, it is pretty weak that they aren't giving 2 pairs of glasses with the tv as someone else said. I mean that simulview was what they were pushing more than anything.

For what they're pricing it at, I'll have to pass. 24" just isn't enough for 3D. Hopefully they come out with bigger versions..

I feel like Sony is pointing at a specific crowd/type of person here. Looks like the 13-20 year-olds that cannot afford a higher end TV. Maybe if they created a whole "gamer TV" line, I would be more interested but I love my 55" Bravia LED 3D TV and until then, pass.

They might be targeting a younger proud but even then..if you're going to drop $499 on 3D then you might as well save a extra $250 - $300 and get a 42" 3D tv..

Don't forget alot of people don't have enough room in their appartment in big cities. 24 inch is perfect for a bedroom or a pretty small living room.

Not everyone has alot of space to fit a 32-60 inch tv and prefer to have a more discrete tv.

This TV is for these people and for teens wanting to access 3D and play splitscreen with a buddy without seeing what the other guy is doing (no cheating by looking at where your buddy is :D )

If you have the money and the space for much bigger... Then this TV is not for you. Just wait for their next huge model.

I want this! This is perfect for me in almost every way. The sound on my tiny HD computer monitor sucks hard and I'm all into the 3D. $500 is cheap... but cheap enough for me? Maybe. We'll see.
