Dan Houser's Current Project: Grand Theft Auto V

I'm just hoping it will be more fun yet maintain a little realism and real-world physics from GTA IV. Get rid of the boring bits, like watching TV, or similar buildings with very few visual highlights.

I say bring back some of the RPG elements San Andreas had. Getting fat, or beefing up at the gym until CJ was completely ripped.

I actually had some cool ideas as to how GTA V could be fun and awesome again. What do you think of the following?

- Story: Struggling actor in LA doing favours for agents, producers and the occassional politician simply to get that breakthrough role.

- Car stunts, fireworks, physical diving or falling stunts, Hollywood scene stand-ins, etc

- Attempt to befriend a gang of your choice, or try to unite gangs all around LA in an attempt to lower violence and crime for a politician. OR join a gang in raising violence and taking over the city. (like in San Andreas)

- Your actions during play shape the ending you get, not some choice, eg decision A for a good ending, decision B for am evil ending. Lazy design choice to create the illusion of player-choice.

- More weapons, more planes and helicopters, more vehicles, bigger stunts and set-pieces, cycling, helping people for a change through donating money rather than just killing everyone, easier access to awesome props, vehicles, weapons, prototype items, etc, once you've finished the game.

Now THAT would be a GTA I would never get bored of!!! A little Saints Row insanity to keep it fun while maintaining some of its realism.

I always had the idea that you could actually play a cop in a GTA. Had that idea since playing San Andreas. The story could stay interesting with your character getting pinned on a murder or something, but of course having a badge you could commandeer vehicles. Or maybe you're just a dirty cop? I dunno... would be a nice breath of fresh air for the series me thinks. Plenty of new ideas could come from that.

come on, there is no freaking way in hell GTAV will be out next year!
in fact it would be more likley for $ony to hang up the white flag, cancel the release of the vita and hand over all their licences and studios over to M$ and have GOW4 a launch title for the new xbox!

I like that you said that GTA and RDR is biting off more than the developer can handle. Makes me laugh a little, because R* have North, San Diego, Toronto, Vancouver and New England as their main console development teams... Even with two games on that scale, with Max Payne 3, Agent and MC:Next also in development, I'd say they can handle it all.

My guess is that this is just speculation. The chances of it even being called GTA V are slim. I'm predicting mid-2013 as the earliest possible date for the next GTA, but I've said that before.

I think GTA San Andreas was and still is the best GTA game to date. Maybe the best or at least top 5 PS2 games ever. I would like to see alot more of the San Andreas style gameplay brought back in GTA V. If not,then at least give us a HD version of San Andreas with trophies to buy from the PSN store. I would buy it on D1. I would be happy to get it with the old graphics even. San Andreas with trophies.$19.99 or less. SOLD!

I'm still waiting for Max Payne HD and Grand Theft Auto HD collections, Rockstar. You'd build sooo much hype for your games plus make a fortunate but whatever.

Even though I'm more interested in Saints Row 3 now, I'll admit Grand Theft Auto will always catch my eye. Could be good.
