Sources: GTAV In L.A., More Than One Playable Character

We'll probably receive all the baseline information on November 2 when the first official trailer arrives.

But in the meantime, the rumors continue to swirl. One of those rumors involves the location for the fifth Grand Theft Auto; reportedly, we'll be returning to the west coast and exploring Los Angeles. I say "returning" because we were in a west coast setting in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas last generation.

Now, according to what inside sources told Kotaku, that rumor is pseudo-confirmed: the game will be set in "some version of L.A." But there's more; this new feature - if accurate - definitely fits the progressive nature of the industry. Yes, there will be multiple playable characters, which means the possibilities are almost limitless.

Will each of these characters have certain traits and skills? In other words, will some be better with firearms and others better at driving? How different will the narrative be from one character to another? And while we're on the subject, can we get some of those RPG-like elements back from San Andreas? Like if we worked out, we got muscular and if we ate too much crappy food we got fat?

Oh, the questions...Rockstar, please give us the answers next week!

Damn. November 2 is the day Uncharted 3 releases here(in PAL territories). And now, it's been eclipsed by this most anticipated trailer.

November 3rd, actually.

And for about 14 hours, the 3rd of November in Australia is still the 2nd of November in the US, since the US timezone is behind.

So, 3rd November brings both Uncharted 3 AND the official GTA V trailer!!! (in Australia at least)

This is going to be the longest week of my life.

Now if they just bring back the gameplay style of that other west coast setting GTA I won't be disappointed like I was with IV.

I wouldn't like multiple characters. I prefer having one character you could sympathize to, instead having a lot of them, where you would only get to know some superficial stuff.

And PLEASE let it be more that LA only! I want the full San Andreas experience with a huge map and planes.

Oh look, Kotaku and their anonymous sources again... I say hearsay, or made up crap.

That being said, there is little doubt in my mind that it will be in L.A, based solely on the info that came out earlier in the year. I hope I'm wrong though.

The multiple characters thing was something that I was really hoping for though. The idea of having multiple intertwined stories (done properly, rather than just shoehorning in the other character as the did in the GTA IV DLC) is something that I really enjoy. I think it's the whole six degrees of separation idea that gets me.

And knowing R* they would name it just that.
Congressmen would have a field day, mayors would rally, parents would go all Simpson's angry mob on the game and 4 million gamers would be in front of their televisions signing "It's a Small World" as scantly clad women of the world try to keep their tops on.

Quoting, "can we get some of those RPG-like elements back from San Andreas?": That's exactly it! I thought what we saw in SA were a hint of what to come in future GTAs. That's probably much of the reason why gta4 was such a disappointment for me.

When GTA IV in my eyes most similar to GTAIII. With that being said 3 was improved with each installment after. Vice City was better than GTA III and San Andreas was better than Vice City. I was highly disappointed with GTA IV because the it was only improved in the graphics area. It was so much more that couldve been added especially when u look at how much was taken out compared to San Andreas.

If the setting is back to LA i wouldnt mind it, just hoping it would be present day LA vs Earl 90s in San Andreas. Also hoping they include Las Venturas as well!!!!! I loved the fact i owed the Casino Millions of dollars and they would randomly try to kill me...lol good times.

I'd love to see Memphis. No really, I would.

I wanna do an insane jump from that glass pyramid to that big bridge crossing Tennessee river. And of course, I wanna see that infamous upper floor in Graceland. Or go bananas in a river boat.

Trust me, my family is from Memphis..you don't want to see GTA: Memphis lol. The Pyramid is big but not statue of liberty big. The bridge however is crazy long and above so much water. When we go to visit I keep my eyes straight..bodies of water scare the sh*t outta me lol

I'm not sure if i'd like multiple characters or not. Depends on how its done. And i for one hope they don't bring back the RPG elements. I love RPGs nbut i don't want to starve to death if i dont eat and have to workout everyday to stay strong in a GTA game. It seemed like it got in the way sometimes in SA.

orly? LA would be very cool, but I kinda want another city. Grand Theft Auto has always been set around in new york mostly of their games. But something else besides new york would be nice.
