Pre-Order Vita First Edition Bundle, Pick It Up Early

If you're psyched for the PlayStation Vita, you've probably got February 22 circled on your calendar.

That's when Sony's advanced new portable unit hits store shelves. However, you now have the chance to nab the Vita one week early!

As announced at the PlayStation Blog, Sony's "most loyal fans" will have an opportunity to grab the PS Vita First Edition bundle, which will be pre-sold at select retail locations. Check with your local GameStop or other game retailer.

It all starts today. The US bundle features the higher-line 3G Vita, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita memory card, and Little Deviants; the retail cost is $349.99. It's the same package for Canadian gamers, except that they don't have the option of 3G; they'll have to settle for the Wi-Fi Vita for $299.99. And if you pre-order right now, you can pick this up on February 15. Get a head-start on the portable fun!

With front and rear touch pads, crisp high-definition, dual analog sticks, and a bunch of other great features, the PlayStation Vita is primed to redefine handheld entertainment. We just hope gamers respond.

The release date for this seems so far away. I want it now. I think the Vita is going to crush the 3ds.

the oppurtunity to crush the 3ds is definitely there. nintendo really dropped the ball with the 3ds. bad luanch. no games, over priced system. hmm...that scenario sounds somehow familar. it does not matter how much success you have had with a previous system...there must be games there to drive the hardware right at the start. i think both nintendo and sony thought they could ride the momentum of their previous systems and show up with over priced hardware and no great games. i think both companies have learned a painful lesson...gamers are a fickle bunch.

what's sad is all nintendo needed to do is show up with a few quality first party games and luanch a little cheaper. they somehow blew it. now they are scrambling to right the ship and are hemmoraghing money. just wow is all i can say. it just goes to show that companies can get swelled heads just like the rest of us dummies.

It is too early to really say right now. Last handheld gen nintendo gave sony a serious spanking from beginning to finish. In all honesty, verse wise nothing has changed. Ds vs psp = familiar handheld favorite vs most powerful handheld. 3ds vs vita = familiar handheld favorite vs most powerful handheld. Who has better games obviously depends on the gamers taste. I do think it is safe to say it won't be a utter blow out this handheld gen. Especially with Nintendo's current poor decisions.

But right now for me... No 3ds until kingdom hearts dream drop distance... No vista until I can get more money.

SONY could have rode off the PS2 momentum if they handled it properly. It was a matter of perception. Of course price and games were a factor but they strayed too far from the user base. Demonic babies and abstract marketing didn't help. Plus people were very satisfied with PS2 at the time as well. Some still are. Yes Excelsior, we definitely are a fickle bunch.

The VITA on the other hand is hitting all the right notes. Sony has indeed learned some lessons.

The 3DS is a mess. Expensive at launch, too few games and no 2nd analog stick. The add on analog makes matters worse. I hope for the best but I fear that Nintendos future lies in the hands of the Wii-U and I am NOT impressed.

I would be interested in this if it were the Wi-fi model here in the states. I dislike AT&T enough to not get the 3G model purely based on the fact that they have a hand in it.

I hope Europe is getting something like the Canadian pack :)
I don't even know which company the 3G will come from over here, if it goes with my current data plan I might just get the 3G model though.

Too bad this is not available through Amazon, I refuse to support Gamestop. No big deal though I really do not want nor need the 3G model because of AT&T. Just a heads up, there is no in store pick-up available either and you will pay at least $11.99 for delivery that can take up to a week, so it is unlikely you will get early.

Where is the logic in sticking with a sole carrier? Why limit users this way Sony? I want 3G but not if I am forced to deal with TT&A.

Apple did the same thing with the I-Phone. Great for the carrier but limited the market for the phone itself.

I could have missed this in previous news, but what exactly is the media format for Vita. Will each game be on cartridges like the DS, or will there be no physical media at all like the PSP Go?

Sony has created a proprietary media for the VITA. It makes sense for many reasons. This is one of the lessons learned from the PSP pirating issues.

Some are upset that some games will require a separate memory card but if that means a secure system then I can live with that. Another thing people are overlooking is the fact that Cloud saves will be available on the VITA as well.

Oops, forgot the actual details. It is similar to the Memory sticks. Just a little shorter maybe. Kinda reminds me of the DS cartridges.

Heck yes! I get to get a Vita one week early! Then I only have to wait another week to actually get some games I want! No thanks, I might as well just pick up the Vita and Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the same day.

If Golden Abyss is bundled I may be swayed to pre-order. Also, I noticed that Amazon does not have the option for release day shipping. I guess that only applies to games. There is no way I would wait days for a delivery while everyone is playing with this beauty.

I am actually debating if I will have a VITA imported from Japan. Patience may be a virtue but VITA in hand is better.

That's actually what I was looking for. The original Vita package has release date delivery though so I think I'm just gonna end up waiting for it to release on the 22nd since it will arrive on release date.

Here's hoping the Vita First Edition bundle gets release date delivery as well, if it does I'll definitely purchase it instead.
