Silent Hill HD Collection May Haunt US On January 24
Maybe you aren't too jazzed for the new Silent Hill: Downpour developed by Vatra. But maybe you're a big fan of the older classic entries.
If that's the case, you'll probably want to pick up the Silent Hill HD Collection, which includes HD remasters of Silent Hill 2 (plus the Restless Dreams extras) and Silent Hill 3, along with new music and voice acting.
And although Konami hasn't treated us to an official launch date, it seems several retailers are in the know: Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart all say this great Collection will be available on January 24. That isn't a bad release window, as it avoids the holiday rush and besides Final Fantasy XIII-2 on January 31, you won't be too swamped with games.
Well, unless you're still working your way through your holiday gift pile. ;)

The most artistic and most intelligent plots in game will now support the original cast again thanks to our persistence.
However, the unbelievably beyond stupid decision about the new music i do not know the situation on...and if that's altered in any way, it's back to shunning this release as if it was as bad as Downpour.

I'm tempted to get it, but wanna wait until the Vita is confirmed to have full compatibility with PSP and PS1 games downloaded on PSN.
If I can play MGS1, Rayman, Driver, Crash 2 and 3, FF VII, VIII and IX, Vagrant Story and Silent Hill on my Vita at launch, it will already be 50 times better than my 3DS.

My only problem with this HD upgrade is the appalling voice over work, has anyone heard the new voices? Sure, they weren't great to begin with but they're even worse now. James doesn't give out the same emotions of a broken tormented man, Eddie sounds constipated & Maria's voice acting has taken a downhill turn. Her classic line "I'm here for you James, see, i'm real" use to give me chills, but hearing that same line with the new voice work has just lost that feeling now.
It may not seem like much to many people but having played SH2 & SH3 for years & years i get used to the voices & tones used. So it irks me abit when i hear these new voices, they just don't fit the characters like the old voice overs did.
End of the day though i still got my PS2 copies, so no big deal just abit of a personal rant.
