Battlefield 3 Sells 5 Million, Fastest Selling Title In EA's History

Last week, EA announced that Battlefield 3 had shipped 10 million units.

And now, the publisher has confirmed that about half that number has been sold thus far: 5 million.

And that's only in the first week of availability; therefore, BF3 now holds EA's record for the fastest-selling game in the company's history. Furthermore, they've acknowledged some of the server issues that have plagued the game since its launch, and many of those problems have been addressed. Over the weekend, EA "said that its online servers experienced their highest-ever usage rates during the game's first weekend."

Analyst Michael Pachter predicted BF3 would sell 8 million units before the year is out; that seems like an attainable goal now, even if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ends up doubling the sales total of BF3.

Yeah, having fun with BF3 but I am already longing for some of my favorite BFBC2 maps, oh White Pass how I miss thee :( It's good though and I am glad I made the purchase. Oh what am I saying U3 comes out tomorrow so what does it matter anyways! :)

I made the choice and Im satisfied with my decision. Im done with buying any more shooters this year. We have lots of "tools" in this game and its balanced pretty well. EA is responding to issues well...Good to go. I have had some hair raising encounters.

im really enjoying this so far, the campaign was far too short but it was allot of fun.
co-op and MP though is where the game shines.
im really disappointed in the graphics though.
on consoles it looks fantastic but on PC, well it leaves allot to be desired!
cant wait till the ieyenhancer mod comes out for it!
if they can make BF3 look as good as they have made GTAIV look then hot daym!
so much for the mighty frostbite 2 though, i was expecting ALLOT more!

I am actually slightly disappointed with BF3 - the game itself is ok, the problem is me: I thought I was ready for another war-themed shooter by now, but I wasn't. So, I got bf3 in the mail last thursday and yesterday I returned to Crysis again. Kinda sad.

I'm glad I gave it a miss as I'm disappointed with the low rating of the single player.

I may pick it up when it's cheap but for now my money is going to AC Revelations and SR3.
After that it'll be Skyrim.

SR3 is just *so* going to beat BF3 when it comes to coop play! :)
All hail the saints!

I'm really enjoying the game so far. Haven't played the single player yet but i'm going to this weekend. MP is uber intense and the unlocks and attachments are light years better than any cod attachment. Engineer class all the way!!! Any way, i can't wait until they come out with the back to karkand expansion. One thing i love about BF series is the map packs are almost alway free with the exception of the big expansions!!! Can't complain on that. I'm glad to see that ea is being rewarded for their efforts. As far as the frostbite 2 engine goes. The game looks great to me. I love how by the end of the match in mp the map just looks obliterated. It's always changing which is pure awesomesauce. LOL
